We took the old narrow gauge railway all
around Yangon getting on about a half hour walk from our temporary house and
going first towards the north, then across the top and then down the eastern
border of Yangon. We got off the train
at the grand central station in the south and after exploring some of downtown,
took a taxi back to our place. The seats were hard wooden benches a bit like old school desks and by the time we had jogged and rocked for 3 hours I was glad to stand up! But the slice of life we saw was remarkable! All this
cost us 20 cents Canadian; I think it was a reduced fare because it was
Sunday.
